Slip77 Suggests: Things To Do This Columbus Day Weekend


It’s Columbus Day Weekend! More like….It’s Columbus Day Weekend?!?! How the heck did that happen and where did the Summer of ’16 go?? Regardless, the traditional grand finale weekend is upon us. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite goings-on and, although we’ll be holding down the fort at Slip77, we think you guys should check out as many of them as possible. Don’t forget to swing by the shop and say hello!


Friday October 7:

9:30am, noon, 2pm daily through Oct. 15: Cape Poge Lighthouse tour on Chappaquiddick. Hop in a Trustees of Reservations over-sand vehicle and get a knowledgeable tour from one of their guides.

Noon-4pm daily through Oct. 10: Driftwood Jewelry on Circuit Ave, Oak Bluffs is hosting a trunk show by Hawkhouse. Take a look at beautiful, handmade jewelry and receive a Hawkhouse keychain with every purchase.

6pm-9pm: Rock Your Boots Fun-Raiser. Check out this lively event at the Sailing Camp Park to benefit the Rising Tide Therapeutic Equestrian Center. Music by the Mike Benjamin Band and raw bar from Oak Bluffs Fish Market!

10pm: The Ritz in Oak Bluffs has live music from the Mike Benjamin Band.

10pm: The Port Hunter in Edgartown is featuring live music from Good Night Louise.


Saturday October 8:

9am-noon: West Tisbury Farmer’s Market at the Grange features locally grown food and locally made products.

Noon-4pm on the 8th and 9th: Featherstone hosts the 13th annual Art of Chocolate Festival. Yummmm!

3pm-6pm: Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery has live music from David Wolff in the beer garden while you sip on your locally brewed flights.

10pm: the Ritz has live music from local musicians DCLA.

10pm: The Port Hunter features live music from Jelly Roll Horns.


Sunday October 9:

10am-4pm: Vineyard Artisans Annual Columbus Day Festival at the Grange. Handmade crafts, art and jewelry from local artists!

10:30am: Oak Bluffs Annual Columbus Day 5k. Run/walk the Chop to benefit the Oak Buffs Elementary School Class of 2017. Register at Summercamp Hotel.

3pm: Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery hosts live music by Mike Martin.

10pm: The Ritz has music from Barbara Paciul, Slim Bob, Groover and Steve Carreira.

10pm: The Port Hunter hosts the Lonely Heartstring Band.

Monday October 10:

Make like Columbus and explore! Go for a hike on one of the island’s beautiful trails and breathe in that fresh, salty air. Check out the MV Land Bank for a trail map. Be sure to stop at 7a Foods next to Alley’s General Store for a sandwich–the Liz Lemon is a great hangover cure…so we’ve heard.
